What is Naval Brass UNS C48200?
Naval Brass is a copper alloy of around 59% Copper, 40% Zinc and 1% Tin with a trace amount of Lead. This alloy falls into the subfamily of Brasses known as Alpha Beta or Duplex Brasses. These Alpha Beta Brasses are generally harder and stronger than other non-alpha Beta Brasses. Tin is included in the alloy composition to improve the corrosion resistance of the Naval Brass. C48200 Naval brass is a brass formulated for primary forming into wrought products. CW714R is the EN numeric designation for this material, and C48200 is the UNS number. Additionally, the EN chemical designation is CuZn37Pb1Sn1.
Forging of the bars:
UNS C48200 alloys have a hot forge ability rating of 90, with the recommended hot working temperature between 649 and 760°C. Therefore the forged bars possess very good machinability as manufacturers under these dimensions.
Properties: Naval brass UNS C48200 Rods are the classic marine, high-strength, and corrosion-resistant alloy. It is widely used in marine construction where strong, corrosive-resistant and hard material is required and suitable for salt and fresh water applications. These bars and rods are fair to excellent corrosion resistance. These forged bars and rods are Good and hot workability for hot forging, pressing, and machining operations.
Applications: As its name implies, Naval Brass was originally developed for seawater service applications. Naval Brass UNS C48200 Rods are widely used in marine construction where strong, corrosive-resistant and hard material is required and is suitable for both salt and fresh water applications.
