These alloy is the most commonly used alloy. Cu-Ni alloy 90/10 is supplied with superior resistance to general corrosion and marine water attacks. These alloy resists corrosion by fast-moving water. Also, the alloy has a nominal temperature with a coefficient of electric resistance. These alloy prevents stress corrosion cracking, pitting and crevice corrosion. This alloy has the resistance for soil erosion, abrasive fluids, which is incomparable in aqueous situations. This alloy is commonly employed in seawater hardware, automotive cooling systems and in manufacturing coins as well.

Copper Nickel 90-10 Chemical Composition And Role Of Chemicals:
These alloys are composed of carbon, copper, iron, lead, manganese, nickel, phosphorous, sulfur, and zinc. In this composition, alloy consists of copper and nickel as the basic elements, and these is with or without other elements. The other elements, such as zinc, may be present by less than approx. Percent. Also, another compound, nickel, is added in the highest concentration after copper.
Nickel: The Nickel shows the considerable effect on the physical and mechanical properties of Copper-Nickel Alloy.
Manganese: It contains to be liquefied for deoxidation.
Iron: These elements include in the solid mixture that improves the resistance to corrosion property.
Tin: An Addition of these element increase tensile strength, tarnish resistance and wear resistance of the nickel-copper alloy.
Niobium: It improves tensile strength and proof competency through the elongation decreases.
Lead: The concentration of lead is kept low in the wrought alloy for hot processing.
Phosphorous: It has the powerful influence of the alloy.
