Inconel X750 Round Bar is an age-hardenable nickel-chromium alloy used in aerospace, chemical processing, and nuclear reactors. It has excellent resistance to oxidation and scaling at elevated temperatures, high strength, and creep-rupture properties, making it suitable for use in high-temperature environments. Its uses include turbine discs, fan blades, springs, and welded exhaust components.

Composition

The first and most significant difference between Inconel 601 and Inconel X750 is their composition. Inconel 601 is a nickel-chromium alloy with additions of aluminum, providing excellent oxidation and corrosion resistance at high temperatures. However, Inconel X750 is more thermally stable when exposed to high temperatures for prolonged periods because of the additions of niobium and titanium that give the alloy superior creep resistance. Inconel 601 is not known for its creep resistance; therefore, its use at very high temperatures is limited.

Corrosion Resistance

Inconel 601 and Inconel X750 offer excellent resistance to corrosion in various environments. However, Inconel 601 is prone to stress corrosion cracking in chloride solutions. Thus, it is not recommended for seawater and other chloride environments. On the other hand, Inconel X750 offers superior resistance to corrosion, including stress corrosion cracking.

Applications

Inconel 601 is commonly used in the aerospace industry for gas turbine components, heat-treating fixtures, and radiant tubes. It is also used in the chemical processing and heat-treating industries. Inconel X750 is used in the aerospace, petrochemical, and nuclear industries because of its strength, thermal stability, and corrosion resistance. It is used for high-temperature gas turbines, jet engines, and nuclear reactor parts.
